1. 2010-12-05 Revenge of the Folksingers, Britten Studio, Snape

The snow cleared in time for us to make a safe journey from London up to Snape, picking up a the fifth member of our party in Ipswich and enjoying a good lunch by the tide mill in Woodbridge.

Martin Carthy had had to drop out at the start of the week to look after Norma Waterson, and was replaced at short notice by Jim Moray. Obviously we hope Norma makes a full recovery. No disrepect to Jim, either, but the verdict in the car on the way out was that it wasn’t a like-for-like replacement in this sense: Martin didn’t go to music school, but Jim did. This meant the only performer who hadn’t had a formal music education was Alasdair, and the folk balance shifted a little too far to the polite conservatory tradition. Still, we had a great day out!
