Always impatient, I’m was a bit disappointed when Alasdair’s April and May dates in the UK were listed on the website under the title “Too Long in this Condition” tour. I was hoping they might be scheduled to coincide with a new album. Duncan’s question yesterday about Song Composed in December sent me back to the last list of unreleased songs I made, over a year ago. Since then, I’m only aware of two new songs in Ali’s repertoire: The Sacred Nine and the Primal Horde, and The Wheels of the World.
Here’s the full list of songs that I know of, in roughly chronological order of appearance.
- Scandal and Trance
- What Cares the Crow for the Plaint of Lapwing?
- The Haruspex of Paradox
- The Untrue Womb (title?)
- Green Wood Waxes Early (title?) — YouTube
- The Loudness Wars
- The Boy of Blazing Brow
- Song Composed in December
- The Laverock in the Blackthorn — YouTube
- The Hidden Sin
- The Sacred Nine and the Primal Horde
- The Wheels of the World — YouTube
- Two songs with unknown titles, played in Edinburgh with Robin Robertson in February 2011
The song titles link to the stats for where the song has been played; and there are YouTube videos of performances of three of them.
Please, if you know of any more songs, do let me know. I don’t say this enough here, but this site isn’t here for me to show off what I can do on my own. There are big gaps in my knowledge, and I’ll be really grateful if you can help fill in any of them. Setlists, mere mentions of songs, or vague rumours passed on by shady operators — all are welcome.
Still, even if there are no further new songs beyond these fourteen, I can’t see them all fitting on a single album, as few are short, and The Wheels of the World is over nine minutes. I don’t know what I’m going to do with myself if I have to wait another six or more months for a new album and then one of my favourites, like What Cares the Crow…? isn’t on it.
